Peek’s industrial applications:
Across a wide range of medical industries, from dental syringe handles to sterilization boxes, Peek has been utilized as a more effective, sustainable, and less wasteful alternative to Aluminum and other metals. The improved biocompatibility of Peek polymers makes it ideal for use in load bearing implants. Its ability to withstand up to 3,000 autoclave sterilization cycles (with temperatures reaching up to 134oC) makes Peek an optimal material for use in sterilization trays and boxes.
Peek’s resistance to harsh chemicals and environments, as well as its resistance to thermal degradation and cracking, even when exposed to continuous use at temperatures up to 480oF or 260oC, has made it a highly valuable resource in the aerospace industry. Recently, Peek monofilaments have been developed into protective braiding, specifically designed for the protection of aerospace electrical and hydraulic cables.
Electrical
Peek provides excellent mechanical and chemical stability, combined with exceptional wear resistance, allowing it to minimize the risk of contamination while maximizing longevity and reliability in extreme conditions with high levels of temperature, pressure and frequency fluctuations. Peek can also withstand the soldering process, and is frequently used in the handling and storage of silicon wafers.
