Stainless Steel Products for Surgical Instruments and Commercial Industries
At China Surgical Tools our advanced precision CNC milling and turning machines produce thousands of stainless steel parts each week. Our decades of experience machining a wide variety of stainless steel products allows us to accommodate whatever grade or material specification your industry and product requires.
Stainless steel is well regarded for its strength under harsh conditions, simple maintenance, and resistance to cracking, etching and corrosive acids and environments.
Stainless Steel alloys offer a number of advantages when compared to standard plain carbon and mild steel. Not only does Stainless Steel offer improved strength, hardness and corrosion resistance, but is longer lasting and provides a more aesthetic, and hygienic, finished product that can be easily cleaned and sterilized.
These properties make it well suited for surgical instruments and commercial industries involving food processing/cookware/appliances.
300 Series - Austenitic Chromium-Nickel Alloys
Type 303 - Stainless Steel Alloy 303, A1
Allows for easy machinability, however has less strength and corrosion resistance when compared to other 300 series alloys. Ideal for parts that must be heavily machined or require additional grinding and polishing.
Utilization: Aircraft fittings, screws, bushings, gears, shafts, food production, nuts and bolts.
Type 304 - Stainless Steel Alloy 304, A2 (aka Stainless Steel 18-8)
Highly versatile and most commonly used. This alloy is austenitic, resistant to corrosive acids, and well suited for high temperature or when trying to decrease carbide precipitation.
Utilization: Chemicals, Food and Beverage, Cryogenics, Pharmaceutical, Mining, Domestic tools industry, Architectural, Marine, Kitchen/Food Processing, Dyeing.
Type 316 - Stainless Steel Alloy 316, A4
Ideal for welding, the high nickel content in this allow also allows it to maintain its strength in extreme environments and temperatures. This alloy is often referred to as “marine grade” because of its higher resistance to chloride corrosion.
Utilization: Food and Beverage, Kitchen/Food Processing, Surgical Devices/Instruments, consumer (e.g. watches), and often used for building nuclear reprocessing plants.
400 Series
Type 440 - Stainless Steel Alloy 440
Known for its inherent high strength, good resistance to corrosion and wear, and easy machinability when annealed. When heat treated, this alloy can also attain the highest strength, toughness and hardness levels of any Stainless Steel.
Utilization: Valve seats, pivot pins, knife blades (high quality), nozzles, oil pumps, rolling element bearings, dental and surgical instruments.
Type 416 - Stainless Steel Alloy 416
This alloy has the highest level of machinability, however is less resistant to corrosion than austenitic steels. A popular and widely used alloy, 416 Stainless Steel comes in highly tempered, hardened and unhardened forms. Resistant to fresh water, acids, alkalis and air.
Utilization: Pump shafts, gears, bolts, nuts, studs, valve components, automatic screw machine parts, washing machine parts.
17-4 PH - Stainless Steel Alloy 17-4 PH, UNS S17400
One of the most common types of precipitated hardening Stainless Steel, this alloy has excellent strength, longevity and mechanical properties at temperatures up to 600oF (316oC).
Utilization: Aerospace, chemical, food processing, metal working and petrochemical industries. Molding dies, nuclear waste casks, turbine blades, valves, marine parts (e.g. propeller shafts, boat self-steering systems), fittings, castings, gears, fasteners.
